For many years, the Ecole du Louvre has implemented an active policy of integrating disabled students and auditors.
Thus, the entire Ecole du Louvre architectural project has been designed according to current accessibility standards for visitors with motor disabilities. The Ecole du Louvre, the architectural firm and the Accès libre association worked together to implement a project that offers installations that are adapted to the disabled and enable them to be truly independent throughout the site.
Schooling and disability
A schooling and disability support group ensures the integration of disabled students and follows their needs, whether permanent or temporary (fracture, serious illness, etc.). The group coordinates the actions to be implemented (tutoring, support courses, note taking, document adaptation, accessibility, examinations, 1/3 time, etc.) in collaboration with the different school services and university preventive medicine.
A tailored welcome:
- Individual welcome, confidentiality, active listening.
- Identification and evaluation of needs.
- Information on assistance provided by the support group (known as Relais Scolarité et Handicap).
- Explanation of Ecole du Louvre programme specificities.
- Total accessibility to rooms.
Each disabled student may benefit from special arrangements for examinations after consultation with a registered physician.
Procedure:
Students should make an appointment with a registered physician and provide him or her with all pertinent medical information.
- Recognized permanent disability: the procedure is begun as soon as the student is registered with the Ecole du Louvre.
- Temporary disability: the procedure is begun as soon as possible.
In all cases, the scholastic service decides which arrangements will be made in light of the physician’s opinion and notifies the student and the support group representative of this decision.
