Research

To strengthen and better coordinate the research carried out at the École du Louvre, its Research Centre brings together permanent members, associate members, associate researchers, visiting researchers and postgraduate students.

As part of its remit within the École du Louvre, the Centre develops a general research programme entitled ‘Heritage and Museology: Places, Objects, Methods’, which encompasses a range of research, publication, collaboration and teaching activities.

A programme of postgraduate seminars is offered, aligned with the main research areas of the École du Louvre and its researchers. Thematic seminars and methodology workshops support students in their work.

The École organises international symposia in partnership with other institutions, as well as conferences and specialised study days.

The École du Louvre awards two postgraduate qualifications under three different schemes: a ‘postgraduate diploma’ modelled on the doctoral requirements in force at the university, either under joint academic supervision or without it; and a ‘postgraduate diploma (independent study)’, which recognises studies undertaken within a framework specific to the École.

To disseminate the results of research carried out at the École du Louvre more widely, an online journal has been established: Les Cahiers de l’École du Louvre.
