Equal opportunities
The Equal Opportunities programme in figures, since 2006:
Introducing the programme
The Equal Opportunities programme consists of several stages, from raising awareness in colleges to supporting Ecole du Louvre students.
During their first college year, students from modest backgrounds who study art history in the eight partner colleges benefit from a career day at both the Ecole du Louvre and in various museums to discover the careers for which the schools prepare them.
In the second year of college, they take part in visits to the biggest heritage sites and museums led by Ecole du Louvre students.
In their last year of college, 30 or so students, who mainly have a scholarship and who study art history as a specialising or optional class, are selected by a jury to take part in the Equal Opportunities internship. They come from one of the 197 colleges in Metropolitan France or in the French overseas departments and regions which offer art history classes.
This one-week internship, which takes place during the February half-term, combines preparation to the entrance exam, theory classes and visits of cultural institutions. Students then take the Ecole du Louvre entrance exam like any other candidate, without benefiting from any type of quota or parallel admission process.
