Third cycle at the École du Louvre

A three-year postgraduate course concludes the entire course of study at the École du Louvre. This cycle culminates in a 'Diplôme de troisième cycle de l'École du Louvre'.

Introduction

The third cycle at the École du Louvre is an in-depth research cycle with thematic seminars and research methodology workshops. At the end of this cycle, École du Louvre students must defend a thesis they have written under the supervision of a professor teaching at the École du Louvre.

How to register

Admission for students from the École du Louvre:
The course is open to holders of the ‘Diplôme de deuxième cycle de l'École du Louvre’ by application, with a minimum mark of 14/20 for the dissertation, or holders of the ‘Diplôme de Post-master en histoire de l'art, archéologie et muséologie de l'École du Louvre’.

Admission for external students:
Applications for admission by equivalence may be made by students from French or foreign universities or higher education establishments.

The online application form will be available from mid-April.
Once the form has been validated, the entire application must be returned by 31 May at the latest for the summer commission, and by 1 October at the latest for the autumn commission.

Fill in the online application form.

Selection criteria

The quality of the thesis project is a decisive criterion for selection. Once academic admissibility has been established, applicants are interviewed by a member of the research team, and their applications are then examined by the research validation committee.

Registration fee for Postgraduate (2023-2024): 274 euros.
